NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 Review Roundup:

  • TechPowerUp 09/11/10

"NVIDIA's new GeForce GTX 580 feels to deliver what I would have expected from the original GTX 480. The card is blazing fast, especially in newer DX11 titles it often beats AMD's dual-GPU flagship Radeon HD 5970. This performance upgrade helps NVIDIA solidify its leading position in single GPU performance."

"The GeForce GTX 580 is exactly that, it is the GTX 480 in a new jacket, now comes with vapor chamber cooling, improved PCB and most of all a more refined GPU. Don't get me wrong here, the GPU itself is still huge, but who cares about that when the rest is right? And the rest is right... much higher performance at very okay noise levels with a GPU that runs at decent GPU temperatures."

""From all of our benchmark testing, the GTX 580 is clearly the fastest single card setup that we've tested to date; it even outperformed a pair of 6850's in CrossFire in our Dirt 2 tests."

  • Bit-Tech 09/11/10

"Nevertheless, the GTX 580 1.5GB is a seriously impressive card that justifies its price. It offers great performance that’s a meaningful step up from the previous generation, plus a cooler you can live with and none of the drawbacks of a multi-GPU setup."

"When you take a step back and look at the numbers posted by the GTX 580, it looks like this is the card people have been hoping for since the Fermi architecture was first introduced back in 2009. Its performance is simply biblical for a single GPU card across a large cross section of today’s most demanding games and it seems to have plenty left in the tank for future games as well. "
