I'm must say i'm loving it so far. Nicely grouped items in control panel, it's very responsive and everything looks very clean and well arranged.

By the way, There's this proggie you can use to unlock all themes even beta ones and all regional themes as well i'm going to try it in a few.

Oh by the way, here's a link to Creative Windows 7 drivers in all flavors.

Could you provide a link to the proram to unlock all themes please?

The tool's called "Windows 7 Power Tool Ultimate v2.3". Can't link to it for obvious reasons. It's clean and it works. It's also got uxtheme patcher and some other nifty features.

    Mykel,

Yeah i guess if it says "7048 build" and it's x64 then it's certainly the latest build and this is what i've got.

Again, the legit 7000 Beta1 product activation keys work just fine with this build.

If you're on x64 OS right now, you can follow this guide on how to install an OS from a USB stick. It installs much faster from a USB stick.

No it won't work. Like i said i was having probs burning the iso onto DVD+RW media so i tried to install it from a USB drive but got stuck at the end when it tried to create a boot file, it said it needed a x64 OS... i was on 7022 x86 build. You're outta luck i guess.

Typing on IE8 64bit Final as we speak under RC7048 :D

the usb trick did work under xp32. All i did was format the usb drive and extracted the iso to the usb and, viola! i just installed in 15minutes. awesome!!!

this build seems to be pretty solid!

    Re: Windows 7 Build 7048 RC1 leaked

Glad to hear you got it to work. Good to know there's a way of doing it under x86 OS. Next time i'll just format my USB drive in NTFS, partition it and MANUALLY extract ISO content onto the drive. So much for the detailed geeky "guides". Heh.

Yeah there's a world of difference between IE8 RC and IE8 Final. RC was such a flaky POS i had no choice but to use crap like Firefox and Safari 4 Beta but since Final's been stable and fast so far i might use it as my only browser/.

By the way, type "Windows Features" in the search/run bar. You'll get to choose which features you want enabled/disabled. All it takes is one tick and you can disable/enable games, indexing etc.

    Re: Windows 7 Build 7048 RC1 leaked

very nice! thanks for the tips!!! i notice indexing is off by default. hmmm.

i'm also planning on not installing a 3rd party browser this time around. i'll give this a day. flash doesnt seem to work? (even in 32bit) or maybe im doing something wrong..

alot of fixes from 7022, picture viewer isnt laggy anymore (esp when vieweing 12+mp pix), itunes works without having access /priviledge erros, explorer save as errors are gone as well. speed is pretty much the same as 7022. and oh, nice new wallpapers! hehe

Did upgrade installation over my build 7000, everything seems to work as they did previously, remembers almost all the settings etc, programs old installations seem to work based on couple i've launched so far

I'd be surprised if they didn't.

With every build the gap between Vista and Windows 7 widens. However, i'm wondering how's MS gonna try and lure people into buying this one... like hey Vista's a flop here's the new improved Version. Hope you like it.

Same as always, marketing, though they had bit easier job with XP which was similar small step up over Win2k, since most home users used Win9x rather than Win2k at that point
