I've got to say, I'm really excited about Windows 7. After using the beta since it went public, I've really been enjoying the new interface and a lot of things that they've changed over Vista.

I too agree. I actually am having 2 users using netbooks running w7 testing for me. I have my hp mini running it and only a couple of software issues that I have come across but easily fixed by running in compatibility mode. I am also using at home for day to day usage no dual booting. Just for the heck of it I tried running vista on my netbook and OMG forget it. Super slow....2gb of ram and 1.6ghz atom, 16gb ssd. yet same hardware running W7 runs like a champ. great battery life too. I am really excited for MS for W7.

Any word if this fixes the SLI lockup issue with Vista 64 drivers on Windows 7?

You and me both. My Mini 1035 is amazingly fast on 7, not to mention better battery life than XP. My only complaint is no WDDM1.1 drivers from Intel for our (admittedly old) graphics...

Just out of curiosity, anyone doing the automated feedback for Microsoft? I figured it was harmless enough, especially for a free copy of Win 7 when it comes out. [thumbup]

Is it possible to update to the new build without having to do a fresh install?

As far as I know, if you're running Win 7 and you have this new build, just click setup.exe and you should be good.

Hang on a minute - that is an improvement? [rofl] [rofl]

Doesn't FAT32 come with and work perfectly fine on Vista, XP, 2000, ME, 98SE ? So what exactly is the improvement that the next latest and greatest brings to the FAT32 table? (pardon the pun)

Whilst W7 is sounding like what Vista should have been (i.e a low resource operating system without needing a stupid amount of RAM to use it aka Vista), I really think that half of the new additions really aren't needed and won't be used by the majority of users.

For my personal needs an Operating System just needs to be stable & secure, use as few resources as possible, allows me to open software and play the odd game or two and listen to my mp3s. I really could care less for all the extra junk that Microsoft thinks we need.

I'm not saying I won't upgrade to W7, far from it, just that I really see nothing new yet again apart from the visual updates (aka Vista Aero Mk2) and another new Windows Media Player which if anything like the Vista x64 one will be just as sluggish opening up it's native .WMV files while it trudges through it's installed codecs to find something to play it with.

There, I've had my rant ...

*Steps into flameproof suit, jumps into nearest cupboard and turns the lock very quickly.

    Re: Windows 7 Build 7048 RC1 leaked

Well i've installed this build. Initial impressions - it's definately better than the 7000 build. It seems as well I no longer have any issues trying to use visual studio 2008 - something the 7000 build was slightly problematic with. [thumbup]

I think I might have to use this as my primary OS. Has anyone got any idea when the cut-off date is for this OS?

EDIT: Just found out it's the 2nd of July. Not awfully long, but Windows 7 should be nearing completion by then.
