    vista 64 stuck on a black screen

    ok so my windows gets past the loading bar but it just stays at a black screen with the mouse cursor for ever not moving.. the hdd light is flashing but only slightly and in the same patern over and over agian... i really hope my hdd isnt failing... i have tryed the vista startup fixing in the recovery console but that didnt work i have tryed the fixmbr and fix boot commands and those didnt work... this is the second time it ahs happened to me the only way i fixed it last time was fresh install but i dont want to do that this time.... im sick of reinstalling windows...

    tried chkdsk /r ? I believe you can get to a command prompt from the vista cd.

    Have you tried loading into safe mode? (f8 on boot)

    same problem. Second time. No known reason.
    bootable in secure mode.

    First time I gave up and recovered with my backup, as no way out.


    This time, glad to say, that ms-recovery helped out.

    Lemme guess... Nvidia video card with recent Forceware drivers? If so, uninstall in safe mode and reinstall with the 178.13s from September 25th of last year...

    I had someone with this issue the other day, but I was able to get into Safe mode and there I uninstalled Trend Micro Antivirus did a reboot and then it finally was able to log in under Normal mode.
