Correct, there's no demo and there's no soundtrack in 3DMark Vantage.

I found this very dissapointing, especially after forking out 20 dollars for the advanced version. [thumbdown] Ive always loved watching the demos with the soundtrack.

Funny... this is the feature that I allso miss most of.
Many people complain the graphicks, but there is so much physicks running backround, that it can be accepted. But I really miss cool soundtrack and the demo mode...
I Hope that now they have the Vantage-engine ready, they can add some *fun* stuff to the next edition.

You, i keep watching the bench, and I can't help but wonder what all that time was spent doing... its obvious that little effort was put into the benches; so what is there to show for? I mean, they really ripped off users..

ah well. Just don't buy in the future. Thankfully 06 is still a decent bench, and will work for sometime still...

    - very poor graphics
    - no sound
    - no demo
    - usless ORB link
    - Vista only
    - expensive

to name but a few things wrong with the benchmark. I would be interested to see FM's point of view on the product they made as they seem a little quiet.

    That's a personal opinion. I think 3DMVA looks nice!

True, there's no demo with soundtrack.

This is a given as 3DMark Vantage is a DX10 benchmark. Read: DX10 is Vista only.

Same price as our previous benchmarks.

Well you work here so your going to say its nice.. but what game, what DX9+10 stuff would you like to compare it to? There is no way in the world you will come back with "futuremark shows you what games will be like". As for "expensive" you said "Same price as our previous benchmarks" sorry show me where I can get 3dmark06 DEMO for $7? Try FREE. futuremark cut things out.. the graphics are what DX7? Oh and what GUY said "ooh lets watch some chic and her boobs bounce". Sorry but come on..With every thing DX10 can do.. and any day you want to chat about it just let me know.. this is the best they can do with DX10?

This time most are not talking about how slow it runs but how bad it looks and its like your trying to milk it for everything you can get aka "$7 demo". oh and I can ONLY see my score if I'm on line? Please..

Eh, come again? 3DMark series is first and foremost a benchmark and not some "Tech Demo" ala Lost Coast to show off future gaming graphics / techniques.

Yes, in the past Futuremark have had some 'flashy' future tech as graphic development was shifting along at a pace and the 'Team' knew or rather had a fair idea what was to be used heavily in games in the coming years.

Unfortunately, it seems that graphic technology has slowed down again, to the point where DX10 is only a rewrite of DX9.0 but with more efficiency in mind. Yes, shader model 4.0 is new, but really that is all that DX10 brings.

Perhaps when the next generation of consoles are being drawn up or when Windows 7 brings possibly another Graphics API (Rumour is that DX could be killed off at some point in the future), then and only then will new 'flashy' techniques resurface.

Besides, when does graphics make a good game? It always has and always will be Gameplay & replay value that counts.

In 3DMark06 you have to buy Advanced to see the full demo. In the free version you only get to see the first part of it (1 out of 4). In 3DMark Vantage we didn't include a demo, so for the 7 bucks you get to run the benchmark as many times as you want + submit as many results to the ORB as you like.

    Cheers,

    Nick
