Am i right that the most popular widescreen resolution of 1440 x 900 won't be supported for use on the orb? Seems daft theres a huge amount of 19" pannels shipped with lower end systems now, if anything drop the lower 4:3 resolutions??

1440x900 is mostly laptops and *very* cheap standalone displays. Very few laptops can even run the benchmark.
1680x1050 is what most cheap displays sold today are, and 1920x1200 is what most high end (24"+) widescreen displays are.
I just looked at the selection in couple of local stores, and could find no 1440x900 19" wides on sale any more.
