I still dont see the benefit of creating a virus that destroys data..why would one do that? fun, maybe?

For the same reason that some people vandalise property. They must get some kind of kick out of it.

I remember a (huge) lanparty back when this virus was hot. It only took 1 single infected computer to overload the hubs and shut down like 90% of the computers at random.

Good thing ipv4 is still up, and routers were invented

Only time I got a virus was when I was installing Windows 2000 (SP2) when connected to the net and my PC set as a DMZ. It just took a few seconds after I had installed my network card for my computer to become auto-infected.

So I had to format and re-install with DMZ off.

Last time was when I got WC3 for the first time. Then somehow I got some weird virus in the exe file which uhm activated 6 months after I got it. Anyway my dad fixed it really fast but I was out of computer some hours I think. The strange thing, it destroyed the funtional of my anti virus, kinda like AIDs but for a computer...haha

LOL,are you sure?half the average user has a virus and dont even know it.

Quality AV over the years = no problems, and I'm the sort to notice if something is ever so slightly wrong with my system.

Maybe I'm just ridiculously lucky..but I've never had a virus..and only run an AV ~4 times per year.

I do pretty frequent formats, though, and unless I'm expecting an attachment I don't touch them.
