I'd love to run it, however, I get "not enough memory" and can't run it, weird, as I can run 03 and 05, and this is on this sh1tbox 6600GT! Annoying can't do 01' though dying to go at it lol
Yeah, the good 'ol days. I have some fond memories of runnning that benchmark. I still have a ton of results in the orb. Here's a few of the ones I consider memorable.
March 16, 2001 - 2208 - This is the oldest result I have in the orb. I had a PIII 733 with a Geforce 2 GTS in a IBM PC. That was last time I'd own a PC I didn't build myself.
May 8, 2001 - 5158 - My first run with the just introduced Geforce3. I upgraded to a PIII 800 and Abit SH-6 mobo that I broke the magical 1ghz mark with. Check out the 23fps in nature. [rofl]
September 18, 2001 - 7308 - By this time Nvidia came out with drivers that almost doubled the fps in nature. I had upgraded to P4 2.0 with a Abit TH7II mobo with the notorious rambus ram. Even with no oc I got 40fps in nature. I was on my second Geforce 3 because I fried my first one when I overdid a volt mod. [cursing]
September 28, 2001 - 9489 - The quest for 10k was on. At this time I was not only on the front page of the orb I think I was somewhere in the top 5 of all scores. Nobody, not even Macci and Digital Jesus had broke 10k yet. That was really cool to be up there with those guys. My brief moment of glory.
September 14, 2002 - 14,365 - I never did break 10k with the Geforce 3. It was a year later with the Geforce TI 4600 that I finally broke through.
May 3, 2004 - 20,384 - The Radeon 9800XT was an awesome card. It got me past the 20k mark and nature was all the way up to 150fps.
June 29, 2004 - 25,710 - I was the first person on FM with the new 6800GT. It was kind of a disapointment in 3DMark '01. It shined more in "03, but it was up to 250fps in nature. The second most of all the tests. Back in the Geforce 3 days nature was always the slowest test. I stopped upgrading and benching for a long time after this. I kept with that 6800GT and P4 3.2 all the way up until last month when I finally upgraded to my current rig. I went from reformatting every month or so, to not doing it for 4 1/2 years.I didn't need a great PC anymore because I did all my gaming on the Xbox 360.
April 20, 2008 - 56,289 - It's funny watching the benchmark run at over 1,000 fps at times, when I remember it used to run at slide show speeds. Things sure have come a log way.
Although 3DMark '99 first got me started, '01 is what made me a tweaker/overclocker. It's still the best MO/FM has ever made. It's funny how most of the people you see on this forum joined around the time '01 came out and are still hanging around. I feel like I know them all, because they got bit by the same bug I did and we all can thank 3DMark 2001 for that.![]()
Don't think I am, downloading and I'll post my score for a giggle [thumbup]
Nope, won't work, 3DMark01 not able to detect 128mb of memory. Hold on it's let me in now weird lol
What was the best test order to get the highest score? I can't remember?
EDIT:
well, here's what I got with the default order... 55801 but I suffer big time with the lobby scores, comparing to you DocLiv
