very very very low 3dmark score...

    Hi!

Just ran 3dmark for the 1st time. Wanted to know how high my computer got benchmarked. Now since my computer is not equipped with the fastest parts, yet, I wasn't expecting the score to be high. Infact the score is extremely low. Now what I like to know is, is this normal or is there something wrong?

    Let's start with the specs:

    Intel Celeron 420 **
    Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6 (F4 Bios)
    OCZ OCZ2N1066SR2GK (2*1GB kit)
    Asus GeForce 6200 TC 256MB EN6200TC512/TD, driver 6.14.0011.6375 (10/4/2007) **
    HP W2408H
    2x Hitachi Deskstar T7K500, 320GB (7200RPM, SATA II, 16MB, NCQ, RoHS)
    Plextor PX-800A.
    NEC AD-5170
    Tagan TG900-U33 ITZ 900 Watt
    CoolerMaster Stacker STC-T01 blue/silver
    ** Don't laugh. I'm waiting for the 9550 Yorkfield and the 3870x2

    So, is that score normal?

    With regards,

    Bart Grefte

Re: very very very low 3dmark score...

The highest scoring combination of an Intel Pentium 4 and an NVIDIA GeForce 6200, in the ORB, is 322; although there are higher scoring systems that this, using a 6200, I did some background testing with a standard 6200 and a Turbocache model a few years back:

    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=137601 - 6200 TC (291)
    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=146398 - 6200 (425)

That was with an Athlon 64 4000+, so it's fair to say that your score, assuming everything else about the system is fine, is normal.

Its right your CPU is a single core processor and your video card are a little out of date for running FM06 that is why your score is so low. 06 is made for dual/quad core and at least ATI 1950/ Nvidia 7series or above. You may want to download 03 that will give you a better look at what your computer will do. 03 was made for your type of system. Then when you get the Yorkfield and 3870x2 then run 06 and watch your score go to 12000+. When you get that bad boy be sure to post pics and scores.

That's not going to make a very large difference. Your graphics card is practically useless for gaming. As far as I know it performs around a GeForce 3, which was hot stuff 7 years ago...

He's going to upgrade and his GPU, so the difference will be big.

    And where's your 3DMark03 score?
