PS3 + Sharp LC-46X20E, will it work?

Hey guys, haven't posted in a while. I've got a probably easy question for you - will the PS3 work with a Sharp LC-46X20E HDTV? A friend of mine got a 46" Phillips yesterday but for some reason it won't work with the PS3 when he sets it to 1080p (he gets blue screen). So he's returning that and he's looking at this Sharp 46" set. He wants to use 1080p (that's the whole point of getting a new TV, he already has a 720p 32" LCD), so will this combo work?

TBH I see no reason why it shouldn't, but then again - I see no reason why the first full HD TV he got wouldn't work either, so I guess my opinion doesn't count for much...

the only real thing to lookout for are HDMI connection, HDCP certified and if you want a 1080p output to the screen you'll need a native 1080p screen (or a 720p screen that accepts and downscales a 1080p signal)

other than that i think you should be good to go.

Yeah, that's what I thought too, but the last panel he got had native 1920x1080 resolution, 2 HDMI inputs with HDCP and still didn't work, that's why he wants me to ask - just to be safe

tbh theres no reason why it shouldn't work, i know there are potential issues with trying to accept 1080p over component but thats about it
