    Nvlddmkm.dll or nvlddmkm.sys errors with Vista 64 + 8800 GTX

My 8800 GTX is giving me some grief of late. I keep getting Nvlddmkm.dll failure and it needs to reload the driver. Games won't work until I reboot my machine.

Is there any way to stop from getting this error?

I've tried all the different drivers and I'm still getting the driver reset on on any dx10 title.

If I disable UAC will that help? Or is my only option a reformat? Thanks

    Re: Nvlddmkm.dll or nvlddmkm.sys errors with Vista 64 + 8800 GTX

I found a hotfix page for Vista and geforce cards. I'll have to try the link at work to download the patches. 56k at home. http://www.nvidia.com/object/windows..._hotfixes.html

I hope that helps people in the same boat I'm in. I'll let you know tomorrow if it worked or not.

    Re: Nvlddmkm.dll or nvlddmkm.sys errors with Vista 64 + 8800 GTX

Well I managed to get three of the hotfixes downloaded on 56k before work.

    940105 (This one worked)

938194 (Didn't apply to my system)

938979 (Didn't apply to my system)

I tried Hellgate: London again today after the hotfix and it played for about ten minutes before I got the nvlddmkm.dll error again.

I'll have to test it when I get home from work tonight.

If anyone else finds any info, please let me know. Thanks

    Re: Nvlddmkm.dll or nvlddmkm.sys errors with Vista 64 + 8800 GTX

Had this error with my GTX and with my GTs SLi.

    1) Tried all the fixes that i could find
    2) Tried formating
    3) Tried downclocking the card.
    4) Checked if the temps were all right and they were
    5) Tried many drivers, beta and WHQL, also tried the 100.65 that nVIDIA suggested
    6) Tried many driver cleaner programs

    After all these nothing.

One day when I was really pissed i tried changing the timings in my RAM. From 4-4-4-5 to 5-5-5-15 and no more nvlddmkm error since then. But i am sure it will reaper :P This error haunts me.

Have you changed the timings of ur RAM??

My ram is at default settings. I don't overclock anything.

I'm going to try 169.04 drivers.

Hehe I kept getting the same error as well. Turned out I had a bad stick of ram that would generate errors in memtest even at stock speeds [surrender]

I installed 169.04 drivers last night and played Hellgate: London for an hour with out a crash.

I have to study for a test today but when I finish I'll test out my machine some more.

*edit* I just played for another hour or so and no crashes. Looks like the 169.04 are keeper drivers for me.
