URGENT.....Bad things might happen

I placed an order for some Team Elite ram on Overclockers UK. Today I got an e-mail telling me to send some papers to verify my identity...

In order to comply with credit and debit card regulations, we need to verify your identity. To allow us process this and subsequent orders please post or fax (details below) copies of 2 of the following documents.

Not knowing what the hell they were talking about, I wrote them.

Then I talked to a friend about it, and he told me NOT to buy from them....and he gave me these links, which really scared the bejesus out of me:

I ordered 2 sets of Geil PC6400 Ultra from them about 2 weeks ago, payment went through fine, arrived exactly when they said it would, no problems atall. Having said that I don't know if the stuff actually works yet! no ddr2 mobo, must try it out soon

They got screwed over a couple of months back and lost ~ £20,000

Since then they've been dubious about new customers and have checked their identities... I was safe because I have been ordering alot from them for ~ 4 years... but mates of mine had their identity checked... all of them faxed the details through & had their goods dispatched the same day - nothing to worry about imo

I cannot say wether or not they are trustworthy...but you could always buy from a myriad of other shops, if its really eating you up. Or you could take a chance, and things might go great. those are pretty much your choices, if it were me I would just copy my drivers licence and fax it to em.

Horrorwood......Actually it's 12 sets ....I just never heard of it before, no matter how much I ordered in the UK.

ChristianIreson.....I've been looking through a lot of UK sites now, and none were as cheap. Except the GeIL PC2-6400C4, it's actually cheaper on MicroDirect than OCUK....But still not as cheap as the Team Elite I orderd.


I have no way of testing the ram for some months though, as I will not buy a mobo or cpu for untill the next Intel price cut.

So I would still like to know if there's anything to all the bad reviews on those 2 links.

I've heard a lot bad about them. And when you get the gear, pray you don't have to RMA.
That's just what I hear mind.
There was a leak recently from the admin section of their forums... Interesting...
