I do think exams for children in primary school are bit too much for kids, but I also feel that they do need some sort of examination so that strengths and weakness in their abilities can be highlighted and delt with accordingly.

That's not the fault of the test, that's the fault of the school and/or teachers.

I've worked in two schools, one had a department for kids with learning difficulties, and the school i'm at now is specifically for kids with learning and behavioral difficulties.

It's unbelievably useful to find out these things earlier rather than later, because if you find out at 15, a year before they do their GCSEs, there's really not a lot you can do.

Yeah SAT's are susposed to be for the league tables of schools, to show how the school is doing not the student, (Well thats what we were told). But I think they are a good idea for the students aswell, gives you tips and learning programmes to work from for further exams just like your GCSE's. They did help even in junior school.

Yeah, it really really pisses me off that teachers and other staff stand by and let kids with difficulties get picked on and slip through the net. The easiest thing for them to do is to just ignore their difficulties and just punish them for their behaviour, it's sickening TBH.

Most comprehensive schools, though, simply do not have the facilities to help someone like your brother, and it's really unfortunate - Is there not some kind of grant you could get to send him to a private or specialist school? I know that this school i'm at does wonders for kids with ADHD, Aspergers, Autism etc.

Believe me we have tried mums been in tears because of it , remember that child and mother that jumped from the bridge? i bet i know why they did it [cursing]

We have reports , statements doctor's authorizations, hospital authorizations
and what do we get out of it? the school refusing to agree there is anything wrong with him. They even put social workers onto us to see if it was a family problem , they went behind our back trying to get my brother looked into incase we where making it all up
we found out by a letter sent to the doctor. The specialist school said it could take anything upto 6months thats IF he is accepted!

Its really becoming stressful , he was once given an asbo at school for going in the wrong area... F*CKING SCHOOL DONT THEY KNOW THAT ASPERGERS KIDS ARE SOMETIMES FORGETFUL! [cursing]

The amount of anger and sadness schools are causing children and their familes is incredible i was so mad once when my brother was in tears on the floor i wanted to go to the school and rip every damn one of them a new one. I didnt but i felt like it

What's even more annoying is that once you know how to deal with something like Aspergers, it doesn't need to hold the person up that much, and they can live a very normal life.

I actually have a very close friend who has aspergers and he's one of the nicest guys you will ever meet, just a bit introverted.

True Jaded my brother could lead a normal life , if he was actually treated with more respect if he does something wrong then tell him... let him know right and wrong
dont punish him with a god damn asbo, dont go around telling him that he is a horrible
child and there is nothing wrong with him.

What happened to this blue day crap? all that singing , dancing and leaflets dealing
with bullying and at the core of it the teachers are the real bullies!

Not all teachers ofcause my brother has had some really nice teachers, and when he has those his grades go up... he becomes really happy but this isnt happening now
and other kids can be right little [cursing] aswell
