Designed because they are flawed, my eyes are utterly crap, right now if I look over the top of my glasses at my monitor I can't read any text at all. The monitor is a 17" running at 1024-768!
I have spent so much money on my eyes its un-true and its not like they have been 'fixed' so you lucky bastards with 20/20, I envy you all. But soon enough I will get laser surgery and have better than 20/20, and I will be laughing

I see no reason why the eye in particular would be different from anything else, and considering I find evolution a pretty reasonable theory I'll go with "evolved".

i think they're probably evolved. but it's just so sad that myopia is permenant. it's pretty bs though. almost every other part of the body can recover from serious injury like breaks, but the eye can just screw up like that and never revert.
