Windows Vista Base Scores... confusing :S

I really don't understand how Vista works out the scores for each system... I have 2 systems here running Vista... the first is an AMD 4600+ X2, X850 XT PE, 2GB DDR Ram

This system scores 4.9 on the test:

    And then there's my second system.. an Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 (2.16ghz), Mobility X1600, 2GB DDR2

    This system only scores 4.3

Why is there such a difference between the Graphics 3D and the Aero graphics scores. :S

Compared to the X850 with 5.9 .. the Mobility X1600 with 4.3 doesnt make sense :S Surely the X1600 is the same speed roughly as the X850?

laptop graphics card's very rarely if ever are equal to equivalent desktop graphics cards, there is actully a huge difference in speed of those cards, you x800xtpe should be good for about 30k+ in 01 (with the AMD system), and i recon you'd be lucky to see over 16k in 01 with the x1600 mobility. Laptop cards are just not very powerful unless you get a desktop replacement.

Oh right... I didnt think there would be thta much a difference. The scores in 01 were:

    AMD System : 17182
    Intel Noteook : 14047

4.3 just doesnt sound very impressive

    Ah see!

I know the X1600 isn't that great compared to the 7900 but it shouldn't be that great a difference.. 4.3 seems too low to me...

I wonder that a 7600 Go would get?

I'm using Cats 7.1's as the moment as thats all I can find... ATI have kindly pulled the 7.4's from their website for the Mobility cards.. Ive asked my manufacturer if they have any later drivers for the notebook... maybe drivers will make a difference.

The Vista scores are not something you should trust anyways. I mean, my X1900XT gets a 5.9, and it easily trumps any of the cards mentioned above. So yeah, don't worry about it, it's not really accurate.

No it doesn't......I don't know much about ATI cards though.
But I score 5.9 with my nVidia GF6800
