Re: Problems running 3DMark06 in Vista? Look here!

Aside from the dll issue for 2900 users, the bitmap issue is very elusive...

I too am encountering this, have downloaded this thing from three different mirrors, yet always get the same error with precisely the same information. 3dmark06 installs fine, and after renaming the dll in system32/futuremark/etc.etc. it will make it past the splash screen, but then the invalid bitmap file format error. The first time this error occurs, it states this:
    http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/2427/34100085dk8.jpg

Second and subsequent times, it's just "Invalid bitmap file format." with nothing descriptive like that first time.

It's probably something very unusual, seems to be limited to Vista (32 bit here). I'm on a P35 chipset motherboard with ddr2-1066 memory if that has anything to do with it- might be some strange issue specific to a particular hardware platform on Vista 32.

    Hope this helps. :)

A little bit more information on the "invalid file format" bug above.

It's not the install image as the 4th time I've downloaded it, I copied it over the network to a Pentium-4 based system which installed and runs 3dmark06 flawlessly.

I went one step further and tried copying the .dat files from the working/installed P4's 3dmark06 directory over to the non-working C2D system's directory- same exact error.

I'd imagine this is some sort of chipset/cpu/stepping issue with your unpack/uncompress libraries suffering some sort of incompatibility. For reference, the non-working system is:
    C2D 6750 @ stock speed
    Asus P5K Deluxe/Wifi (P35 chipset)
    2gb's Mushkin ddr2-1066
    Radeon 2900 Pro's in Crossfire
    Seagate SATA drive.

Hmm.. not sure. Try using the -nosysteminfo command line. Though it will help you run the benchmark, the result is not valid (system info is required for that). We'll look into it.

    Cheers,

So Nick I think that is human error main problem after all, not 3DMark06.
I doubt I'm even close to the Top but at 16,081 on Vista 64bit my system is running fine.
The only issues I've had where over O/C causing instability, not Mark6's fault.

Re: Problems running 3DMark06 in Vista? Look here!

Could someone please explain to me which values in the registry that i need to change in order to run 3DMark06 consistently? When i run it, it will finish sometimes and other times it will come back with an IDirect3dDevice: : Present: Device Lost error, which i assume has to do with the TDR in Vista. Imjust not sure which values need to acutally be changed. When i get to the GraphicsDrivers folder i see two registry files, one says default and the other something else but then i se REG_DWORD. Please help :)

If you've got "invalid bitmap" error at the second launch of the soft, try the following method, it may work for u as it has worked for me. Try to run the installation software under an administrator command prompt, then apply patch the same. Once installed, you can run 3Dmark06 without administrator privilege.

Re: Problems running 3DMark06 in Vista? Look here!

This is strange to me. I "upgraded" to Vista Ultimate 32 bit (in hopes of another 3870X2 in the future). I ran '06 last night, all tests climbed to over 5,000 FPS, cpu tests to over 80. I'm using the 8.3 Catalyst drivers also. After the bench (all stock clocks) I went to the Orb for results, and it showed what I think would be a correct score (just over 15K). Any Ideas?? http://service.futuremark.com/result...eResultType=14

    Thanks,

    Kwikky

The installer wont even run on my pc . When I try to load the install, the spinning circle (aero), spins for about 2 seconds, then stops. No error, no warning, no anything? I tried installing the directx package linked here, and still no luck. 3dmark 05 installs just fine. I've tried 2 different download sites to verify it wasn't a bad download. What gives?
