Very Confused. How can 2 systems be exactly the same, I score 18k and they score 27k

hi guys....just running the normal tests here, just done a 03 bench and very disappointed in my score. Only 18k. Now i know my old hardware is limiting the 8800GTS but done a compare to someone with exactly the same setup, cpu, amount of ram, gpu etc etc and they have come out roughly 10k more...how is this possible?? below is a compare of the systems in question. hope you can see this

Hmmm, you've a slightly slower CPU clock but much better CPU mark.
About all I could suggest is the PCI-e slot speed is incorrectly set and/or the graphics setting is incorrect. Certainly a huge difference in the 'marks for what appears to be almost identical systems.

He's probably running SLI. Not benched for a while, but I know when I last ran 03 that SLI systems weren't detected; that's probably still the case.

I doubt it, my STOCK/DEFAULT 4800+/7950GX2 combo scored higher than either . I think the original poster has a problem.

I just ran a bench on my system in spec which is quite similar to yours and i came up with 22k. I think mine seens a little low also, but your is definately low.

hmm thanks for that guys. Looking at the few compares you have provided me, certainly looks like my 8800GTS isnt peforming for some reason. The CPU scores are very similiar so I guess it has to be down to the rest of setup. Just starting to question the rest of system now, I know it`s an old set-up but still thought the card will be cutting like your cards. Just wondering if the PSU isnt powerful enough, or the old ATA drive is crap..Any ideas what I can do now???

Actually come to think of it, check out my 06 score seeing as this is very GPU dependant could you. Not sure where I stand now

just reinstalled mobo drivers and GPU drivers, much better score...have a look

Ah, you've the 320MB version - that'll have a significant affect in some instances.
Bit strange, as your other benchies were around what I might have expected.
Anyway, glad you got it sorted to your satisfaction.

Decided to go for the 320mb version cause I dont game any higher than 1280x1024. Didnt really think i needed the extra for what I use

Same here - monitor limited, it's why I expect to stick to the GX2 for quite a while longer. At least until I HAVE to change for a game.
