I have a skt 754 athlon64 venice core that does 2.6ghz i dont think s754 is dead yet![]()
I dont see why not. You can buy CoreDuo's and motherboards for them, so I dont see why AMD wouldnt tbhOriginally Posted by Lysippos

Because it uses it's own socket that can only be used with mobility chips, so it would most likely not be a commercial success [no]Originally Posted by Langaleer
Intel CoreDuos have socket 479 and dedicated 479 motherboards, granted theres not a lot of them!
*cough* so does Core Duo?Originally Posted by IgLoCSka
More likely to see M-ATX or SFF for it, for the HTPC/'lifestyle' market. Most Pentium-M motherboards have been like that, with the notable exception of AOpen's new 975X board for Yonah/Merom.
Either that or cling on to Asus doing the 'CT-638' but I think its unlikely given that Turion is basically a low volts A64 (which isn't that wasteful of power in first place), Core Duo and Pentium-M were significantly different enough to be more interesting and much lower power than P4/P-D.

Core Duo is a completely different CPU compared to the previous Intel chips, whilst Turion X2 is basically a low voltage A64 (closest to the AM2 models afaik, due to the DDR2 support?).
As it stands now I don't see any reason why I would choose a Turion over a Core Duo, let alone a Merom... I really hoped that AMD would give their current mobile users a nice upgrade for their existing laptops...
I was really happy when I saw that the new Turion was coming, but after reading about the performance I think I gonna wait a while before upgrading my laptop to something newer.
