daylight savings time fix - need help (2000, xp, server 2003)

i have already downloaded:

TZEDIT.EXE (windows 2000)
WindowsXP-KB931836-x86-ENU.exe (xp sp2)
WindowsServer2003-KB931836-x86-ENU.exe (server 2003)
tzmove.exe (outlook 2000)

is there anything i need to know before i start doing these. problems that some of you have run across that i can avoid.

i was going to use these silent install bat files - they good ?

WindowsXP-KB931836-x86-ENU.exe /quiet /passive /norestart /nobackup
WindowsServer2003-KB931836-x86-ENU.exe /quiet /passive /norestart /nobackup

also - why do you need to do the "tzmove.exe" fix for outlook if the kb931836 update fixes the DST time for the OS? if outlook has a time set in the calender and the OS has the right time, i dont see why you would need to fix outlook.

also - anyone do the "tzedit.exe" fix for windows 2000 ? got any pointers ?

You can copy this into notpad and rename the extenstion to .reg and import it also.

We're working on the patches here at our company as well.

WIndows 2000 server and Pro both use that registry hack/vb script for the update. Just have those run on both, and it work. TZEdit will save you a reboot of a machine...so you might want to push the scripts out to the clients, and just run TZEdit on the servers.

Just to see what would happen, I've tried running those same Windows 2000 fixes on an XP machine. Funny enough, when I set that machine for 1:59 am 3/11, it bumped up to 3:00 am like a charm. So I don't think it really HURTS the XP Boxes if that registry hack/vb script is run on them.

Windows 2003 Server though, I would apply whatever microsoft states.

Be careful if you're updating exchange. I"m personally not handling that one, but I'm needing to work closely with the net admin doing it (Cause I need to update our blackberry servers) and he's very...nervous about it.
