3DMark06 Score, quite low, need some help improving score.

    Hi All,

I have done some upgrading this weekend and while im not finished yet with the upgrades im not sure if my score should be as low as it is and maybe I have done something wrong in the upgrade process.

    PC Setup:
    E6600 Core 2 Conroe @ Stock
    Asus P5W DH Motherboard
Corsair 2 x 1GB 667 memory running in Dual Channel
    ATI X800 XT graphics card
    Jeantech 450 Watt PSU (+3.3V = 30A, +5V = 28A, +12V1 = 14A, +12V2 = 15A, -12V = 1A, +5V sb = 2.5A)

My 3DMark06 score is 2270, if this is correct then thats ok but I know my Graphics card is a weak point but is it really causing this score to be this low, my previous system was a P4 3.6 with 2GB PC3200 memory and the same graphics card and I managed to get just over 2000 on 3DMark06.

Possibly my PSU is not putting out the required power im not sure, I do have alot of USB devices attached, two DVD drives and 2 HDD, 1 Floppy and 3 case fans.

Oh also im still running 32Bit WinXP, holding out for Vista to go 64bit, could this affect the score much?

One other thing, 3DMark could not compare my system to another like it as apparently not enough people have a similar setup to generate comparisons.

Oh one thing im confused about is when I load up CPU-Z it says my memory is PC2-5300 (333MHz), should this not be 667MHz?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Update:

3DMark06 is very graphics card dependant so, although your current cpu is much faster than your old one, it doesn't make much of a difference.

Your memory is DDR meaning that its effective frequency is double the real frequency. CPU-Z shows the real frequency (333mhz) while the effective is 333x2 = 666 mhz

    Thanks Slayer,

Looks like its time for me to start researching Graphics cards.

I did not see your cpu scores or results. Make sure your multiplier is bios is set right also. Sometimes when its new, for some reasons its set lower and you end up running a bunch slower than you should.

Hi Viking, CPU Score is 2030. I have updated my post with some more result details as well.
