A 4.1 GHz Dual Core at $130 - Can it be True?

Bah that is what you get when u listen to the reviewers at newegg... I just upgraded my rig about 2 monthes ago and allmost went with the pentium D but the reviewers acted liek they were just ok cpu's [cursing]

I might sell some stuff and get one of these. wish i could find a decent ocing mobo that uses ddr1 ram so i just had to get cpu and mobo.

I doubt an 805 would be much better (maybe slower) than your venice clocked at 2.6Ghz. Im sure your chip runs much cooler aswell, best wait for concoe

The good thing about these chips is they are so cheap, dual core, and overclock nicely for a budget gaming rig!

Not much. Keep in mind this is a 533MHZ CPU so in order to get those overclocks you will have to use 667MHZ or 800MHZ DDR2 which is expensive{unless you just want to buy 1 gig which in my eyes is a waste} and also buy a motherboard that will do those speeds stable. I have one and if I would have done it over I would have bought a more recent chipset{I got one with the 945 in it} and higher speed ram. The latencies are like twice what DDR is on ram at those higher speeds. It was almost a lateral move for me coming from a 3500. The 805d does have more L2 cache than the venice core I had. I wanted to try a dual core chip and this was a cheap alternative to the AMD versions. Might be awesome in vista but as of now it's kind of a waste. Oh well more parts for the kids when they get past the"Break everything they touch" phase.

Dont forget its quad bumped as well so technically its a 133mhz fsb part so in theory you could get away with ddr1 pc3200 400 ram and get 4ghz 1:1 200x20. When I had an 805 I used ddr2 pc4200 533 and the memory was stock at 4ghz (200fsb, 266mem). Be warned though if anyone gets one, they are bloody hot running when clocked. A better deal would be a 920 which are pretty cheap now and run cool.

The nVidia nforce's are not as good as the intel chipsets. They do not clock as high, and may be less stable when overclocked and tend to be more troublesome.

I would go for one of the Intel chipsets, newer the better, especially if you do not need SLi.

Edit: Of course the nforces are rated for 200fsb, so that would be 4Ghz using an 805d. I hear the nforces are good for ~220 so that gives you plenty of headroom.

When my Celeron D 2.4 can do 3.6 9 (133 to 200 MHz FSB) at STOCK cooling and 1.55v vcore
Then Pentium D 2.6 with new core can definitly do 4GHz (133 to 200 MHz FSB) easily[yes]

even if it clocks to 3ghz it would be much better than my xp 2600+ actually anything is better than my xp2600+ .... maybe i should stop buying pda's and buy a cpu .. [no]

If you overclock it to 3.2GHz, will it be faster than a Prescott 3.0Ghz s775 2MB Cache? Or at which clock will it become better? Will it break s939 3700+?
