    Inspiron XPS Gen1 Scores

I bought an Inspiron XPS off of ebay a while ago.
    Specs:

    3.4HGhz P4
    2GB Ram
    Mobility Radeon 9800 256mb
    60GB Hard Drive

When I first got it, It ran like a complete slug and in 3dmark06 posted 326 (SM 2.0: 184/CPU:99) with the Omega Drivers at the stock GPU346mhz/MEM300mhz clock. It ran as hot as a frying pan and I noticed alot of dust on the heatsinks, so I took it apart and cleaned it. Then when I put it together, it wouldnt complete POST. So I got it repaired (Bad logic bridge was the diagnosis). When I got it back, I ran 3dmark06 in the same config, it posted 824(416/486). After some overclocking took place putting the GPU at 500mhz, and MEM at 400mhz, opening my window in 25*F weather. It ran through with no artifacts with a score of 1134 (564/775) http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=632043 . While this is a HUGE increase over my original 326, it still seems slow. Is this what my score should be? Or should I be faster and why?
    Thanks!

The 9800 cant run all the tests and is also getting on a bit now.

    Re: Inspiron XPS Gen1 Scores

Nope, your scores are right on par. 3DMark06 takes advantage of the latest video cards and their features. The 9800 in your laptop is several years old now and doesn't support the SM3.0 tests in 06.

You should still be able to play most of the new games out though. My laptop with a mobile 9700 scores around 200pts in 06, but I can still play most new games at 1024x768 med/low details.
