    Creative X-FI control panel settings reset upon next bootup?

    All I found so far was a generic uninstall/reinstall suggestion from Creative. But it happens quite frequently that the settings have reverted back to their default values after the comp has been powered down.

    What could cause this? And more important, what fixes it?

    Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional Series running XFTI_PCDRV_LB_2_17_0008 with CSL_PCAPP_LB_2_61_35 under Windows 7 x64 SP1 with all updates.

    Googled the problem and found two possible solutions;

    CTXFIREG.exe <-- Disable this

    or

    "Fixed the problem. I installed creatives default beta drivers / console launcher and the problem still occured. Turns out it's an incompatibility with X-Fi Mode changers automatic speaker setting. When it tried to set the speakers to headphones at start up it ended up resetting them to the default setting which ironically happened to be 2.1 speakers."

    I've actually been noticing this issue since switching to Windows 8, after each reboot 5.1 reverts to 2.1 and surround options go back to Xpand.

    There isn't a process for CTXFIREG.exe that I can find anywhere. Also not using headphones.

    Is there an automatic setting?

    " Turns out it's an incompatibility with X-Fi Mode changers automatic speaker setting"

    Check this out, even if it's for Vista...

    Running drivercleaner and making sure everything Creative was off the system, I installed http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.ph...9&postcount=87 and it has solved the problem.
