    Dead Light - Out Now!

Not sure if many are aware (or even concerned) but a great game as just been released on XBLA - Dead Light. I've been looking forward to this for quite a while and it came out last week as part of the Summer of Arcade.
It plays like the classic Flashback or more recently Shadow Complex but follows a character struggling to stay alive in a post apocalyptic, Zombie infested Seattle in the 1980s.

I'm only about half way through at the moment but it's good fun though I was expecting it to be a little more difficult in places and most of the puzzles aren't challenging at all. However the overall aesthetic and visuals are brilliant, especially a section I recently got past, you have to run from house to house with a load of zombies trying to snatch your brain as you make your way through the infested neighbourhood - very tense and you have to make some split second decisions which really keep you on the edge of your seat. Annoyingly though there are parts where you have to die, almost like in Limbo where you can only find out what to do by dying once or twice.

I hardly play on my 360 any more but this is a nice little game to welcome back those who have picked up a pad in a while. Though I doubt this is quite a long game, there are things to collect and secrets to unfold but the game is 1200 points which may put some people off.

Altogether though it's a great game a really worth trying.
Here's an old trailer for the game...

Looks great! I will grab the demo today and try it out and if I like it, will definitely purchase.

I just finished the 2nd episode of The Walking Dead on the 360 yesterday so it will be great to have another fantastic XBLA game to play.

I remember someone making a thread about this game a while ago - I assume it was you then, too. Downloading the trail now, the video I saw at the time was interesting!

    --- Post Update ---

Finished the trial, it's certainly decent enough. Works well, sets the right tone. I'm not entirely sure whether it does anything special though, anything that's not done by other 2.5D games and a season of The Walking Dead put together. I'll see some reviews before buying.

Such a sombre game for summertime.

I downloaded the demo (very short) then bought it straight after. I love Shadow Complex and Limbo and if this is anywhere near as good then it's well worth the money. Platform games are what I grew up on!

Yeah that was probably me too
I'm almost at the end, it's good as it changes itself up a bit exempting itself from becoming completely the same from start to finish. It's also quite interesting to stop and read the diary entries that you find but I think these are best read before are after playing otherwise it breaks up to flow of the gameplay too much.

I saw this too, but apparently it is "a two hour story" - death included, it'll take you about six hours.

I've bought it and played a bit last night. Great game, though sometimes you just end up dying and thinking... "I could not have foreseen this". I don't like when that happens.

I'm about two thirds of the way through and it's looking to be just over a 2 hour game, maybe 2 and a half (depending on how crap I am).
The game does vary itself slightly throughout exempting itself from being too bland from start to finish. 1200 points does seem like a lot for a 2-3 hour game but there are secrets / diary entries and those mini games to play through too (the mini games are just those oldschool battery operated games and not really all that great). However it's a great game and refreshing to have amongst all the crap that is being released on the 360 in it's old age.

Welp - the game's counter says 2 hours and a bit for me, too. Felt a little longer, but not much. I think Limbo took a little longer than this game?

It was very enjoyable though, and the pace definitely picked up near the end. I wish the game was longer, had some of its elements fleshed out a bit more. It could, for instance, easily have had more stealth elements, or bits where you'd pit soldiers and Shadows against eachother. Use the environment to your advantage.

    Fun game.

I finished the game with all the achievements in about two and a half hours, I agree they could have done a lot more with it, especially when it ended so suddenly, I was just crying out for it to be longer and with more chapters like the first.

Still it's a fun game but I don't blame anyone if they're put off by the 1200 price tag, it's definitely one to pick up in the sales.
