Google Chrome Status bar, can it be disabled?

I find it incredibly annoying and would love to remove it, is this possible?

Sorry to not be any help, but why/how exactly do you find it to be annoying? It takes up like no space whatsoever.

Well, thanks for the answer, what a stupid oversight on Google's part.

Because I do not need a tiny, annoying popup to show me links in the very bottom of my page, it's like having an annoying acquaintance constantly telling me what is blatantly obvious.

    And it's distracting.

Add it to the list. Google has tons of issues with their products that are annoying and they pretty much refuse to listen to people complaining about them.

Couple of complaints I have that other have already complained about to Google.
    - In Chrome, when you hit ctrl+F to open the find bar. As soon as you move move to another web page, it automatically closes and you have to re-open it again if you are trying to search for something specific across multiple web pages.
    - You can't remove Android devices from your Google account. Once you have associated a device, it's permanent, even if you got rid of the device years ago.
