Windows 7 can't read some JPG files?

Good example is this one here.
    http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper/D..._1680x1050.jpg
I can see it in Firefox, but when I go to make it my desktop, Windows can't see it.

When I use the Windows Photo Viewer, it tells me "Windows Photo Viewer can't open this picture because either Photo Viewer doesn't support this file format, or you don't have the latest updates to Photo Viewer." I'm up to date on my Windows updates...

Getting a file not found on your link but it is probably a lossless JPG encoded file which windows does not support. You will need to save the file then convert it to a standard JPG format using Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop, or an equivelent program.

Re: Windows 7 can't read some JPG files?

Just picked a random background and just right clicked it after downloading it, to select it as my background.
Worked like a charm 5 times in a row.

You sure you downloaded the file? and its not in your temp folder somewhere.

Worked fine here as well, with photo viewer and set as background. Thanks for the site.

Looks like it might have been the site. Now it's working for me. Thanks anyway guys.
As for the site, it's my favorite for backgrounds. There's some really good stuff there. I wish that I had the money for the cameras and lenses most of them have. Maybe one day...

Had Similar Problem with JPG files. This may solve problem

I have experienced this widely reported problem of image files (not all) being reported as corrupt or unable to be opened by various programs. Why some and not all? I tried so many methods to recover my images by following numerous suggestions from so many forums. None worked. Copying the so-called corrupt files to another disc and trying to open them on another computer didn't work either.

Then, I had a sneaky thought that it may have something to do with Shadow Copy services. Previously, I had tried to backup my computer, during which the process creates a shadow copy of the files to be backed-up, but the backup failed. I retried the process, but backup failed again and reported an error while trying to read the shadow copy.

I checked the number of shadow copies on my hard disc of which there were about 6. I decided to clean up the hard disc using System Tools > Disk Cleanup > Clean up system files > More Options > System Restore and Shadow Copies > Clean up > Delete > OK > Delete Files.

    Voilą !!!

    All images reappeared.

Please let me know if you try this method and are successful.
