CDPR already announced it sold 250k in its first week worldwide and total sales for the game across both platforms is 1.7 million. Additionally all the CE s were sold out weeks before release. Only cost them 1 million to port so it has already been quite profitable.

Btw, Kingdoms of Amalur sold over 1.3 million copies, and that was considered a "bomb" here too. Just financially mismanaged when you needed 3 million to break even.

KoA sold 1.2, its a flop considering the amount of money spent on it. 1.2 mil on all 3 platforms combined doesn't cut it in the triple A console industry anymore. Why do you think the middle tier of developers don't exist anymore on consoles?

If your not GTA, CoD, Madden, FiFA, Battlefield or Assasins creed or a bethesda rpg you might as well not bother.

There are still plenty of "lesser" devs that are successful. Ninja Theory, 4A Games, Insomniac, Naughty Dog, the D Soul devs, Techland, etc. They just don't waste too much money and are usually in the positive with the quality:cost ratio and healthy sales. KoA's problem is that they probably paid their think tank stars too much money.

Considering how old and repetitive the above titles have become, I think new gameplay types and entirely new games will be of more interest.

they would be interesting to the people who aren't the idiots which is probably the minority.
