Hello all,
Yesterday I updated the BIOS on my Maximus Extreme IV mobo, and ran 3DMark 11 afterwards. I was very surprised to see a score of P2717 (Normally I'm right around P6500).
After reviewing the results, I saw that the processor clock was listed at 1600MHz (I'm OC'd to 4.8GHz). I ran 3DMark again with CPU-Z running side by side and saw that the multiplier wasn't increasing when the benchmarks were running. Occasionally, I'll see it kick over to 4.8 for a second or so, but then it goes right back to 1.6.
I don't have this problem with any other benchmark software... everything else appears to function properly.
I couldn't find much info on the topic, but I did find one page suggesting that speed step be disabled. I tried this, and got the same behavior.
Any help is greatly appreciated...

Update... Disabling C1E + disabling SpeedStep does force the core clock to run at full speed, thus allowing for an accurate benchmark... however, I'm still curious why it's not stepping up to 4.8GHz on its own.

Interestingly enough... running with speedstep and C1E disabled increased my score to P6741 as well... which tells me that even when it was increasing the multiplier in the past, it wasn't holding steady at 4.8
