Good to hear that you're getting to go "home" soon. Hospitals, rehab centers, etc aren't the greatest places to recover. A more comfortable surrounding will go a long way to starting to feel better.



I wish. When I had surgery to take care of an intestinal blockage, I had hydromorphone (good stuff, btw) in the hospital for a few days when all of the sudden they switched me to something even better - Tylenol. In fact, they didn't even offer a prescription for any pain pills when I left.
Yes, they dole them out like candy in Florida where they have "pain clinics" but not where I live...or at least the surgeon that I had doesn't do that.

Ouch, I remember you posting about it, seems an aweful long recovery time, was there a lot of soft tissue - tendon/ligament, etc, damage as well?

No soft tissue, just in the words of my doctor it was "smashed" A lot of small bones and metal meant the healing time was much longer.

Nah, I didn't "need" opiates at that point. By the time I left the hospital, my back hurt more than anything else from being in the hospital bed. (I love my bed at home)

Hey old friend, just saw you mentioned something in another thread and found this.

Sounds painful, but I'm sure you'll get through it. I wish you a speedy recovery.

If you feel like catching up some time (preferably when you're not stoned ), let me know via PM and we'll figure out how to chat. Also keep in mind that you're still pretty far up on the list of people I want to grab a beer with when I finally visit the US .

For now, enjoy your family's care. Despite all the pain etc., you'll find plenty of positive sides to it. Remember that game you always wanted to play but never had the time to? Suit yourself! Complete Star Wars marathon? Why not! Cooking and cleaning? LOL NO! You have all the time in the world for now, this is something you'll miss when you get back on your feet.

Of course it's still a shitty time, but in some time you'll be looking back at it and seeing just a distant memory that wasn't all bad.

I do have a photo of my leg after they pulled the staples out, it looks really weird.
