I played D2 for 5 years straight (8 years total). Not impressed at all with D3, thought the beta was very dull and catered to the noobs.

I have a feeling that if I play, 90% of my time will be dedicated to the RL money AH. I'll never have a geared character because I'll just AH everything.
So you're not impressed with Diablo 3 because you know you're going to ruin the game for yourself? Awesome.
As for the game catering to noobs, ALL Blizzard games are easy to learn and difficult to master. I think that's one reason I like their games so much, they get the learning curve perfect.

I'm about to head to Bestbuy and assess their launch capabilities. Can't wait for midnight so I can start punching things with my monk.

Well, I didn't really mean difficulty wise, I expect all of normal to be a cake walk. I just don't like how they decided to dumb down the skill system (Similar to what they did with MoP)

That has nothing to do with why I'm not impressed with the game. But why should I equip that awesome rare unique I found on hell Diablo when I can sell it for 30 bucks?

And is it mainly about SP or MP?
You don't need D1+2 to enjoy it at all luckily. Blizz also released a lot of stuff to get you started on the lore if you've never been into it!

It is mostly about SP, whether alone or with 2-3 buddies in co-op the game is pretty much the same (apart from the monsters / bosses being stronger with more players). There will be some multiplayer competitive play added with arenas in a patch, but I don't expect it to be great.

I got it all pre downloaded and ready to roll. Unfortunately I'll be asleep when the servers go live and at work all day tomorrow. I'll get around to it though. I've never played 1 or 2 but the game looks like fun and something I'd like so I look forward to it.

Some Korean peeps already finished the game in 3-4 hours. There's actually achievements for finishing each chapter under one hour.

Why do they rush everything? It's about enjoyment not APMs!
