Yeah I'd like it back. I'd say something like 30% of my time on FM was spent on that one board alone. That was the place where Phil converted me to Asatru!

My guess is someone from actual FM, read the posts, saw that the most idiotic, bigoted posts just happened to always come from a person who's name was in red. Closing it down was Lang's solution since he just had to can the thief Admin, and didn't want to can the bigot Admin.

I mean, if you were FM proper, wouldn't you want to distance from that admin's posts?

It's the classic I have the ban hammer so I can be as douchey as I want but if you make one misstep BANHAMMER!!!! mentality. FM just isn't what it used to be.
This... However, it's FM's forum and they can do whatever they like.

It's really worth noting that what happened in R&P was less incendiary and certainly less damaging to FM's reputation to newcomers than what goes on in the console and GPU boards. In R&P, it's all opinion and everyone in there knew it.
When it comes to discussing a GPU and you get the same fanboy arguments from people with 10,000 or even 30,000 posts as soon as someone asks a simple question, I think that's far worse. Newcomers to FM will come here because of the benchmark, or because they got into building and tweaking rigs (that's what brought me here all those years ago).

What's more likely to put them off... someone ranting about Obama or Healthcare... or someone for telling them they're a moron for buying The Witcher on the Xbox or for getting a GTX680 rather than an R7890 or whatever?

    No one benchmarks anymore anyway.

No one new comes here. Maybe a small trickle of people but thats it.

The massive long debates that are classed as "flame wars" were the only interesting thing left. Why do people have to be so namby pamby and complain or delete every thread just as it starts to get interesting. Why is having a heated debate now forbidden because it might "offend" someone. Please... this is the Internet.. i'm sure we have all been using it long enough not to get offended by someone having a different point of view to our own.

Thief or not, there is quite a lot of drama surrounding someone.

Everyone knows what he was like. Why else do you think they (eventually) gave him the big heave ho, and even deleted his account?

It just took indisputable proof, twice, to convince him.

"No, no, I promise... that other guy that just happens to have the same nick as me, at a site I posted on here multiple times about selling guitar's on... isn't me, I promise!" lol

    That's why I said "eventually".
