Those are not exact numbers, but that is basically how it works.

Although some boards "cheat" and just do the maximum turbo with 4 cores anyway.

Does my board cheat? I quoted someone in the OP who thinks my ASUS Sabertooth Z77 does cheat... How can I verify?

Maybe I can make it cheat somehow? I'm good at making girls cheat - I don't listen, pay little attention, only please myself in bed, tell them they're ugly and they cheat on me - how do I apply that to ASUS Sabertooth Z77?

Yeah but not on all cores... I think you get like 39x on all four cores and maybe 41x for one core only. I know nothing about non-K chips though, so don't quote me on the exact numbers. The very thought of getting one of those makes me wanna puke.

Same, I can't say i've really looked into them. Generally people that want to overclock don't end up with none K series CPU's.

OK thanks! Who can I ask though? Maybe on different forums?

I tried googling it myself as I was curious and I could not find anyone that has done the same as you. But its worth a try I guess...

Or maybe just try overclocking it yourself and let us know?

I don't ask for names! Putting labels such as friends, friends with benefits, relationship, marriage, etc. is not cool these days. Who cares what her name is - its the bustiness, curviness, and similar things that truly matter! I don't care for what they look like on the outside (with clothing on), but I do care about what they are like inside... (under clothing).

Anyway, we need to make my motherboard cheat this time! And unfortunately, I do remember the name and etc. about it!

I'm going to have to recommend you stop and wait for extra cooling. Ivy Bridge chips can climb steeply in temps and stock cooling won't be able to handle much more than the stock turbo clocks.

Then I will let it sit at stock and enjoy! I am using single channel until my new memory comes tomorrow, but even with single channel Witcher 2 runs butter smooth with ubersampling on!
