So I bought the new soundblaster recon3d card but my main rig doesn't have PCI-x

I had to laugh I have three computers and my other two machines both have PCI- express ports but on my main rig I got a cheaper mainboard and doesn't have it. I laughed so hard when I opened up my case I almost dropped it. I'll just save it for my next upgrade. I don't play games on my older rigs. (core2dou system)

I thought that would give you guys a chuckle. It made me smile.

    Talking PCI-E 1x slot?

Do you have a 4/8/16x slot? Toss it in one of those.

    Hehe, I have a a similar problem, but it's reverse of your's.

I have an Xonar Essence ST that is the old PCI standard. It's a minimally better card than the STX, but I am afraid going forward I may not get board that is compatible with it. To make it even worse I have upgrade all the OP-amps and modded the board, so there is extra money and effort I have put into it.

As bad as Asus has gotten about drivers, I may be looking for a card with better driver support anyway.

Not PCI, PCI-E. I.E. where the graphics goes.

I'm getting memories of early 2000s when PCI and PCI-X came out, and not too long later PCI-E to confuse (noobs ).

Ha, last time I did something like that was way back with an nforce 650 motherboard, for some reason I thought it supported crossfire, I believe that you can guess the rest.....

It has better jitter rejection but didn't measure as well in Stereophile's review. But that's not here nor there as both are probably effectively transparent.

I don't really think there is much for difference in them.
