    Oh science.

Bethesda can barely program as it is, this is going to be the buggiest mess ever.

Why don't they make a singleplayer game, too many MMO's already, I think the market is full enough!

I think I can wait to see how this does before showing any real interest, like I've done with every MMO since WoW, with exception of GW2.

Bethesda isn't making this, Zenimax online is. Its a brand new studio headed by some of the leads of Dark Age of Camelot on a different engine from the gamebryo engine.

Here is the first trailer of the game http://www.gamespot.com/the-elder-sc...ailer-6375081/

After reading through that short wiki page I'm left quite underwhelmed. Matt Firor.. what has he done exactly? 11 year veteran means nothing to me..
    Look:
    • 1991 Tempest (Darkness Falls) (Content/Design)
    • 1996 Rolemaster: Magestorm (Producer/Design)
    • 1996 Splatterball (Producer/Design)
    • 1997 Darkness Falls (Producer/Design/Content)
    • 1997 Rolemaster: Bladelands (Producer)
    • 1998 Aliens Online (Producer/Design)
    • 1998 Starship Troopers: Battlespace (Producer)
    • 1998 Godzilla Online (Producer)
    • 1999 Silent Death Online (Producer/Lead Designer)
    • 1999 Darkness Falls: The Crusade (Producer)
    • 1999 Splatterball Plus (Producer)
    • 1999 Darkstorm: The Well of Souls (Producer)
    • 1999 Spellbinder: The Nexus Conflict (Producer/Design)
    • 2001 Dark Age of Camelot (Producer/Design)
    • 2002 Dark Age of Camelot: Shrouded Isles ( Producer/Design)
    • 2003 Dark Age of Camelot: Trials of Atlantis (Exec. Producer)
    • 2004 Dark Age of Camelot: Catacombs (Exec Producer)
    • 2013 The Elder Scrolls Online (Director)
So he left Mythic in 2006. What has he done since? The guy has done DaoC, OK that's nice. But is that really enough?
I smell another disaster. Elder scrolls should have stayed single player IMO.

He started working on this MMO in 2007, they have been making it for 5 years. Its pretty funny when people shun a game they haven't seen anything on yet.

I didn't know he'd been working on it for 5 years. His "CV" had big holes, like mine, and that's not good.
The list is a list of crap games besides DaoC. You're not even a little skeptic?
I like the Elder Scrolls games and I don't want them to embarrass themselves..

I'll be skeptical when we learn more about the actual game, there's very little we know so far. Also this doesnt mean there wont be any more single player Elder scrolls games, Bethesda Game Studios still does elder scrolls and fallout games. And they are currently working on the expansion to skyrim (dawnguard).

    Re: Elder Scrolls Online Announced!

I actually interviewed for a job as a designer on this MMO. My problem was that I didn't want to do an MMO.

    Edit:

I interviewed for ZeniMax Online halfway through 2008. This was about the time when production was just starting (this is what I come away from the interview thinking anyway). They were in pre-production for probably a year before that, possibly more. They have been working on this game a very long time already. He has probably been on this project most of that time.

That is not to mention that many developers are on projects that never see the light of day, so there maybe some of that in there as well. He has been busy that is for sure.

Eleven years of experience is an incredible amount of knowledge and experience to pull from. Many people get burnt out before they ever come close to that. And failed projects rarely have to do with just directors and producers money and time constraints are usually bigger factors many many times.

I am not saying this project is gonna be awesome, but you have to consider what the atmosphere in the games industry was when this game was originally started. It was a very different time then, and this is a totally new studio that has little to do with Bethesda the developer.
