Hey, So a few weeks ago I upgraded my computer, The parts I replaced where

So I have tried everything I can think of and read but no matter what I do I cant get the cpu stable past 4.2 ghz. Everythigng Ive read says at LEAST 4.4-4.5. Every power saving thing is disabled and everything else is stock except the cpu mulitplyer and voltage. The stock voltage is 1.275. To get it stable it needs 1.368 - 1.39 to get prime 95 stable for about 5 hours before it fails. Even then no matter what voltage I feed it its not stable past 4.2ghz it either has a hardware faiure on core 5-6 or freezes the computer. Does anyone have an idea? core temps are around 49-50 running prime 95
I think youved just reached the limit of your CPU and theres nothing really wrong. Thats the prob with OCing multicore CPUs, you could have some cores that are just not as good as the others, on top of that the FX-6100 is a die harvested CPU so its likely it wasnt great silicon to begin with.
Though, if there is a problem, id say you may have hot spots on the CPU, try maybe a fresh layer of paste and put the cooler back on. Or the PSU is not coping well at the increased loads, Bulldozer is a real power hog when OCed even the FX-4xxx and FX-6xxx models. Your PSU may sound like its enough but under heavy load it may not be delivering a clean enough supply to the CPU socket which in turn is stressing the mobo VRMs and limiting your OC, however its unlikely.
