    BF3 on low end systems?

    The system is

    GTS 450
    2GB RAM
    C2D E4300

Would it be enough to upgrade the RAM to 4 or 8GB, or is the CPU and/or GPU too weak?

    Thanks for any advice

    I wouldn't bother.

    I have Q6600 (@ 3.2ghz), GTX 260 216 (which is approx 15% faster than the 450), and 6gb of ram.

    Still ran terrible.

Agreed, just not worth it. A friend of mine has an i7 760, GTX 285 SLi, 8GB, and it still runs pretty poorly (40-50fps with low settings).

Runs like garbage on my older pc. Core 2 Extreme X6800, 4gb ram, 8800GTX SLI. Thats with every setting to low and aa/af off (1680x1050).

If you own it, you could install it and see. Just login to your Origin account.

I'd say for sure you would need more ram, I know mine floats around 1.5GB to 2GB while playing. Medium preset here.

BF3 needs a quad core and at least a mid range DX11 card (like gtx560). GPU's older than that just won't do it.

What are you guys talking about? BF3 is all about the graphics card. There are almost zero difference between two, three or four cores (or more for that matter):

Also, BF3 runs great on moderate graphics card, take a look here:

    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...ce,3063-3.html

My roommate is using a q6600 @ 3,0GHz and a GTX 260. BF3 runs smoothly at 1920x1200 @ medium settings. I have never tried playing it on his comp, but I don't think I have ever seen it dip below 40fps. That's not so bad, is it?

And it still looks great at medium settings.

In multiplayer there is a HUGE difference between dual core and quad core. Dual core in MP is almost unplayable even with a decent Gcard.

For example disabling 2 of the cores on a 4ghz SB i7 produces over 60% less FPS than with 4 enabled.
So with a old school dual core I imagine performance would be very severely effected in MP.

SP runs completely fine with a dualy though. Almost no difference between dual and quad in SP.

I don't remember what settings I used, but the single player ran fine on my C2Q Q8400/8GB/9800GT SLI @ 1680x1050. I never tried the MP on it cause I got my new stuff right after.

Re: BF3 on low end systems?

I can personally attest to a Q6600 with a 560TI skating by with solid FPS on High. I think anything lower than that setup (personally) would be sacrificing FPS and quality.

(but I don't play on that, just was a test. no need to worry when it's 120+ now.)
