Anyone (UK) Recommend a Galaxy S ICS or Honeycomb ROM?

I'm currently running the irritatingly laggy 2.3.4 revision which seems to be the latest official release. Can anyone recommend a ROM for ICS or Honeycomb to an Android noob?

Also a page with update instructions would be useful [yes]

Try giving Cyanogen 9 a go, I know the I9000 has a few more issues than the very usable Galaxy S II's nightlies, but should still be very good.

God it's a pain in the ass. CWM doesn't seem to work even after I've rooted the phone. Instruction pages assume you've done it a hundred times before. Starting to regret starting this

Is the S same as the S2 where CWM is part of the kernel? And, I agree, sometimes there is so much info on XDA etc it's hard to find. Best thing to do is Google it. What exact firmware are you running? About Phone > Kernel. There should be XXNNN? You can then find the right CF-Root for that kernel version.

I've installed CWM several times following a rooting guide, but I still seem to have Android Recovery 3e. CWM doesn't seem to overwrite the default android recovery options.

Thank fook, finally cracked it and got CM9 working on it. Everything seems to be working but only time will tell. Certainly seems faster and more responsive than 2.3 was.
