Probably has to do with the fact the first two games were very story based(read single player) and had some unique third person action gameplay, good writing and artistic direction. This new game is basically turning into a Gears of War clone. It's now a 3rd person cover shooter and the main character looks like he's put on 40lbs of muscle, and now they're adding multiplayer too.

Though I'm not really sure what this has to do with FM. They were recently acquired by Remedy correct? They developed the first two Max Payne games, but I think Rockstar Games themselves are developing this one, not Remedy. I could be wrong though.

FM was originally spun off Remedy. They are separate companies.

Remedy has only acted as a consult on Max Payne 3. Remedy sold the rights to Max Payne to Take Two / Rockstar quite a while ago.

...and what I hear, the MP Rockstar are putting in is actually very good.
