External Hard Drive started beeping and my computer won't recognize it - lost it?

Yeah, so I've had this Transcend StoreJet 320 GB drive as a backup drive for quite a while since my last one died.
Now this one seems to have malfunctioned also. When I connect it to the USB cable, the power comes on (blue light) but the device is making a beeping sound and the computer won't recognize it.

Is it dead? Is there anything other that can be done save from sending it to forensics?

If you haven't dismantle it and put the drive in a PC or new caddy.
