    Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

    There's a good review here :-

    http://lunduke.com/?p=2813

Personally I quite like it now, it's more intuitive to use than Win8 for example, and is touch friendly without harming the desktop interface too much. The sheer speed of Unity too now is impressive, it's back to Gnome2 levels of responsiveness, but with the visual effects, smoothness and GPU acceleration of a Win7/OSX desktop (but better tbh).

Yep been running it since day one, and yet to have any real issues at all with it (other than the Ubuntu Software Centre being a bit slow, but it's always been like that tbh).

Extremely stable too, I've no hesitation using this at work as a primary OS for a bunch of VirtualBox VM's, rock solid...

What games do you run through wine then ? I am seriously considering going fully Linux on my home network... I only play CS Source at the moment. I fell out of love for BF3 dont know why really....

Also another thing that ive read is difficult to get working is the likes of a force feedback steering wheel.... I have a logitech G25 and researching that brings up a lot of scary Kernel hacks etc lol....

Are you a terminal man? Or stick with the GUI ?

Played most games on via Steam really, even Skyrim via Steam/Wine runs fine for me

Not sure about steering wheel support, as that's not exactly straightforward on Linux, so you'd have a google around for guides/drivers to get certain models to work.

Either terminal or GUI is fine with me, but it's been a long time since I've used a terminal only Linux distro tbh, most modern GUI's since Gnome do the job for most folks, but it's often a lot easier to work in the terminal for things like system info, updating/installing, building and cleaning up directories etc.
