Looking for driver set similar to Lehscat's UnifL Catalysts

So, big surprise, HP isn't a fan of updating their drivers.

Lehscat's UnifL Catalysts are solution for some, they work for any laptop with AMD switchable graphics - as long as the other part is Intel. However, they're only for Intel+AMD combo, not for AMD+AMD

Does anyone know if there's similar universal driver for HD4200 + HD5650 switchable combo? Sadly all the laptop makers make their own customizations on the switching process apparently so just installing standard drivers won't work

That's strange, I owned an HP with 4200/5650 graphics and the regular mobility Catalysts worked just fine.

They install just fine but at least 12.3's say that they don't work on switchable gfx laptops

Ah, perhaps it's a new thing. Last drivers I installed on the laptop in question were the 10.6's or something like that.

Even the HP drivers are newer than that based on date (didn't check build)

Re: Looking for driver set similar to Lehscat's UnifL Catalysts

I have the 12.3s installed on my Acer with 5470/Intel HD. Switches fine. I had the switching problem when I wiped and restored from a blank Windows 7 DVD. I had to use the recovery, put all the original software in, then download the 12.3s.

Strange as they specificly state they don't support switchable gfx on 12.3's, maybe I should give them another go then or just use the HP ones 'till I face actual problem with some game/app

Ya they do say that. When you install, don't choose 'Express' and when you get to the components checklist it should should somthing like 'IPX something-something' at the top. The version numbers will be the same, for example, mine says verison 1.00.0 (or something similar)
