GTX 680 supports NV Surround with non-matching displays

I just got my 680 yesterday and swapped out my 5850 and 9800GT that were hooked up to two displays each. Everything I'd read said I wouldn't be able to run NV Surround on my setup, because you need 3 screens with matching sync polarities at the same native resolution, and to my knowledge, only two of my monitors fit the bill.

I've got two 24" screens at 1920x1200, one 21.5" 1080p monitor, and a 720p projector that I run upscaled to 1080p. I am planning on adding another 24" or maybe two more 21.5" at some point, but for grins, I tried setting up NV Surround with what I have now, and was shocked to find it worked.

Right up front it said my 21.5" wouldn't be part of the group, but it was fine with adding my PJ, which should be the least compatible screen in the bunch. What it does is similar to how AMD's Eyefinity handles monitors with mismatched resolutions, by forcing 4:3 AR on each. So instead of the 5760x1200 res I'd get on a proper setup, I'm limited to 4800x1200 or divisors thereof.

    Here's what it looks like:

Far from ideal, I know, so I do still plan to do it right. Just letting you know, NV doesn't leave you completely out in the cold if you don't have all matching monitors.

Re: GTX 680 supports NV Surround with non-matching displays

Hi: I have started a few threads on this since the 680 has come out. I have a 5970 and use a u2711 as my main monitor and 2 dell p2210 1680x1050 as surrounds. With Amd i can use eyefinity at 5040x1050 and of course the u2711 switches to 1680x1050. Then go back to extended and 2560x1440 comes back. In every thread that I ask this it gets buried because people start talking about things that have nothing to do with the topic that I start! I have been trying to get the answer to this since the 680 has come out and of course since the 300 driver came out.
Would really appreciate a answer to this as it is driving me crazy. Nvidia has done so many great updates to surround but it is a nogo if I have to have matching res screens.
Thank you for your time it is greatly appreciated.

This is a copied post from a thread I made on the wsgf. Your saying I should be able to run 5040x1050 with this setup??
Did you try bezel mgt. with your setup?? Thanks for the reply!!

If you try the 2x1920x1200 screens and the single 1920x1080 screen will it work at 5760x1080 or does it default to a lower rez??

It's forcing me to 4:3 on each screen, so I'm pretty sure you'll be limited to something like the 4800x1200 it gave me or maybe as low as 3072x768 with your arrangement. Bezel management still works, so I was able to set mine to 5000x1200 and played some Crysis 2 last night.

yea that is what i'm afraid of. If nvidia would fix this I would get a 690 or 2 680's. But I have to be able to do eyefinity with my two diff res monitors.

You could get another 22" and use the 27" as an "accessory display," or maybe try running SoftTH.
