Highly doubtful, AT&T considers HSPA+ "4G" whereas Verizon considers their LTE "4G".

I would agree, based on their current coverage maps... VZ has a number of LTE installations while AT&T has none in Michigan.

However, AT&T has an altogether better plan for their LTE rollout, IMHO... while their HSPA+ networks may not offer the speed that the VZ LTE does, they offer a service that is MUCH more widely available than VZ's LTE. And if you're not using VZ's LTE, it means you're left fishing for 3G with crappy speeds and the inability to talk and work off the same device at the same time.

Here north of Baltimore, on my "measily" HSPA+ connection, I average ~7 down and ~2 up through the middle of the day during high usage. In the wee hours, it's even faster. Yeah, "officially" it's only 3G tech, but that's a heckuva lot better than limping along with VZ's! And AT&T has the option of rolling out the older equipment to further expand that service throughout their network... Verizon? All or nothing. [yes]

While you say that VZ's 3G is craptastic, i would ask you to consider the fact that some of us aren't in an area where we can get either AT&T or T-Mobile. VZ is sadly the best i can do here right now. We will have 4G here though by years end though, so that'll be nice.

I can't find it right now, but I remember reading somewhere that one of the big 4 was converting their RTT to 3g/4g. I keep thinking it was att, but im not 100% sure. I do know that sprint is going to convert their old iden network to 4g when they start.
