    Building a Win8 test system.

Just for fun. Few things new to me I have never tried before. Never messed with an APU or socket FM1 before. Never messed with dual graphics before. I'm going to pair up the on-chip GPU of my A8 3850 with the max discrete card it will work with, an HD6670. Going to test with 3DMark11 on APU alone, 6670 alone, then with both enabled. See what happens. More parts and pics to come.

    --- Post Update ---

The Sapphire 6670 has a nice cooler on it.

Why not get a touchscreen monitor to truly test windows 8? I have been running Win 8 on my primary PC for a while now not really much different once your on the desktop the only real new stuff is all the touch UI related features.

If I had the cash I would have gotten a touchscreen pc.

I saw one on sale for $350. 21.5" screen with a complete computer behind it. $400 for a 23" screen. I think it was AMD based.

Though these cheap deals seem to go on all the time. At that price, it makes me want to grab one up for Win8 as I have yet to try it out. [yes]

I think of peoples average desktop setup touch screen is kind of useless. If i wanted to touch my monitor i would have to lean forward and usually put my feet down every single time. Why do that when i could just use the mouse like always, its not a problem and probably faster and more comfortable. Also....cant really eat anything messy if your going to constantly be touching the monitor it would look like hell. The only thing i see touchscreen actually working efficiently for is mobile devices.

Totally agree with all. [yes] I have no use for a touch screen.

You bought a bunch of hardware to test Windows 8 not knowing that Windows 8 is basically Windows 7 + Touch UI and now you are saying that you have no use for a touch screen. HAHA. Damn.

Re: Building a Win8 test system.

I could have a ton of fun with a touchscreen. I would want more than one monitor, but if I could have a touchscreen to my left maybe on a stand with an arm on it, that would be bada$$.

Though what is the point of Win8 touchscreen? How is it different? We have touchscreens at work running Windows XP. All I could imagine is that Win8, it is built into the OS instead of a piece of software so has some minor increased capabilities? Plus the Win 8 UI is tweaked for better touchscreen usage?

I know that Windows 8 is basically Windows 7+ Touch UI. I'm not building a system just to test Windows 8. It is a party room PC for surfing the web, playing some casual games, and watching Youtube when friends are down there.

Putting you back on my ignore list now after having you off of it for less than a week. [yes]

Edit: Anyway, more hardware comming in tomorrow and the next day. Will update when it comes in.
