Folding made me randomly swap my i5 for an i7 yesterday and...

    http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2327345

    lol

I went from a 5GHz i5 to a 5.05GHz i7. My i7 has been folding for the last 20 hours like a champ! I did have to get a bigger liquid cooler than I previously had. Very worth it.

When you said you were going for a 'bigger' CPU I thought you were switching to socket 2011. Not just one that hadn't been laser cut.

I was going to, but I'm going to do that later. I went to Fry's to fill my immediate need to put something in it for now. lol.

I was thinking I'd get a Core i7 3930k, but I'm gonna wait for the Ivy Bridge.

If it helps I don't think Intel will make an Ivy Bridge - E, Haswell is probably going to make such a move illogical.

Those were supposed to be mid next year though right? I know they made some, so you think they may come earlier?

All you really gained was hyperthreading and 2MB cache. Thats worth $300!?

    So far, yes.

Plus I'm not paying that much, just whatever the difference is when I sell my i5.
