This is how it is, Im not sure why people are saying it isn't, I have the game on 360. Once you press the button attack animation starts and cannot be stopped, it can get annoying because you have to make sure your not going to get hit by anything else during your animation because it cannot be stopped, and could easily lead to a death.
I don't think the controls will translate so well for PC, im not sure the inventory system will either.
I knew if i held of for long enough it would come on the PC [thumbsup]
The weight of the weapon you use alongside the level of the relevant attribute (strength, dexterity etc...) are a huge factor in how proficient the character is with that weapon, not to mention how much stamina you have. What you describe sounds more like timing of the attacks, this is certainly a game where you don't just go around swinging your arms randomly and expect to kill anything but the lowest level of enemy. It is all about learning your enemy's moves and looking for an open opportunity to attack. It's something that I love about the game and it's one of the best features of Demon/Dark Souls.

Attacks with quicker 1H weapons are pretty much instant, depending on whether its a thrust, slash, etc. When you power attack with a big 2H monstrosity, the longest delay between pressing the button and the animation completing is about a second. In Dark Souls that one second WILL kill you if you don't use that attack very carefully. That is the appeal of the game though, you don't get anything handed to you on a plate. You want a potion? Go ahead and press the button while three guys are beating on you, but it doesn't mean those three guys are going to politely stop beating on you so you can have a bit of tea, they're trying to murder your face off.
Remember: Parry/Riposte everything, and don't be afraid to run like a little girl.
I can't wait for the Capra rage. [rofl]
Seriously though there will be moments, like Capra, where you will rage. You will break your controller/keyboard. You will shout and swear like a drunken sailor and you will want to give up and do something more fun like lick your toilet clean. But you will keep going and when you finally get past that wall there is such a huge sense of accomplishment and relief. It is a feeling you will not find in any other game.
Then about 30 seconds later a sudden feeling of dread comes over you as you realise that you are only a couple of hours into the game... and it is a big... long... game...

Pfft, Capra's are a cakewalk compared to Ornstein & Smough on NG+ (Smough first, for Super Ornstein!)
(Mind you, The Bed of Chaos was possibly the most annoying boss for me, I hate that thing...[wallbash])
Still, I persevered in the end for the Platinum trophy...[xmascandle]
