    Beware-- Win 7 ~ 64 bit BSOD "%hs" error with new update for AVG or Avast anti-virus

    Just updated my Avast AV and got this error, (%hs BSOD) so if your running Avast or AVG and have updated the virus definitions recently and get a BSOD when you reboot, its caused by their most recent virus definition updates.
    The fix for me was to boot into safe mode and then uninstall my AV and then re-install the AV and then update again, cos they've now removed the offending update from their update servers.

    Only affects 64 bit versions of Windows 7 though.

    Great... did a reinstall of Windows 7 x64 for someone today and put Avast Antivirus on, and told them to leave the system on all night so it can do full windows updates. If I get a phone call tomorrow morning saying they can't get into Windows after rebooting I know why.
