To address the hardware, as long as it is capable of providing 1080p with smooth frame rates and next generation graphics relative to consoles, who cares what it is? We all know the fact that closed systems like consoles produce much greater than similar specked pc's and I have little doubt that a decent dual 7XXXset up with comparable CPU will do just fine if the rumor is true.
As for the DRM and the possibility of the end for used games. Let me first say I always buy new and could really care less. I pick and choose what I buy so the 5 to 10 games I may get provide me with enough entertainment to warrant the purchase price without a kick back even if one or two is a bum. Having said that, I think they should still allow preowned games to sell and be played. If they must then simply sell an additional code to activate for a reasonable fee, like $5 or something similar. It will still allow those to resell their used games and give others the availability to purchase used.

Consoles are dedicated, they have no extra crap running in the background and therefore will get much more out of these cards. The biggest issue with the last generation, was not so much graphical horsepower but the lack of RAM. Looking at the rumours this should no longer be an issue.
That's a myth. There's no extra crap running in the background that slows down games. It's the hoops that software has to jump through to access hardware on the PC that causes the performance discrepancy.
Doesn't matter. They are employing current generation cards that are already outdated by 30% thanks to Nvidia. In 12-16 months from now, it will be old news and slow as hell.
But with the optimisation they will be able to make the graphics far better than what we currently see with the xbox 360 and ps3. Your dreaming if you think any new console will use an up to date graphics chip.
As far as i know every console at the time of release has used an "outdated" gpu?
Also games that are starting to be made now for the new consoles would need to know what chips etc are going to be used to be able to optimise the **** out of them would they not?

The 360's GPU was actually more advanced than anything available for the PC at that time.
Oh ok cool, dont know much about this stuff... so what was it? Was a gpu that wasnt available for PC's ?
It was largely based on the R520 but had features like unified shaders that were only available to PC in a later generation of cards. As far as I'm aware the 360 held to it's graphics and performance superiority until PC got the 8800GTX, at which point the PC became somewhat better at the various multiplatform titles of that time.
