I was just expecting a steering wheel with eye infinity, not something that good. I remember looking around a while back an off the shelf rig that seems to cost around $20k.

    ****ing awesome!!! Questions, questions!
    1. What is the clearance with that right wall?
    2. How did you do the motor control? What kind of motors, etc.
    3. What was the total cost?

    Re: My newest DIY project.

Shoes indoors? At least I wasn't wearing dirty, white socks. :)

The wall is safe. What you're seeing is the dresser that the camera is taped to.

I have no idea what it costs. A basic motion simulator can probably be built for less than $1000 with small motors and an under seat pivot, but mine is more complicated due to the pivot point being above my head, and adjustable (my own unique design).

The motor controls are two Pololu JRK 12v12 units. The motors were boat winches, but I have modified the heck out of them and made new gears and adjustable bearings. The control software is X-sim 2.0 which has plugins for iRacing, Live For Speed and several other games.

I'm still a helo mechanic. I would start seling stuff if I wasn't such an autist.
