Yup, sad to said but load times seems to plague the early releases.

Yeah true. The PSP was pretty horrendous with load times on early games. Don't know how much it improved either.

For a dedicated gaming machine if you are a hardcore gamer, the Vita is undoubtedly one of the best out there, just don't expect it to do anything else well. The apps are very slow and clunky and the browser is almost unusable.

As long as you are looking for nothing more than a gaming machine it is the best but if you want more than that, best to look at a smartphone or tablet as they run circles around it for everything else.
The clunky feel and slowness is less to do with the hardware, and more to do with **** firmware.

Believe me, I wish your rationale rang true.
Erm...sorry do you even own a PSVita ? Obviously not by the sounds of your comments. I do and a PS3 and ill tell you now the load times are SIGNIFICANTLY faster in uncharted on Vita.

The load icon like spins a few times and thats it..loaded.

Saying the loading is the same as the PS3 is utter nonsense, any owner will tell you that. The 3DS and PSVita load games extremely fast, id say they are comparable to my PC which has a Vertex 3 SSD in it.
I cant speak for ports like Fifa, but Uncharted GA loads faster than anything on PS3.

I think youre just trying to make the Vita sound bad because so far all youve done is claim that tablets/phones are great for gaming...yet you claim the Vita is slow and buggy ?

I just did a quick test on uncharted and it took exactly 30 seconds to load a level from the title screen. I wouldn't exactly call that lightning fast.

*EDIT* An Apples and Oranges compare. DOTA 2 (only game on my SSD atm) menu to watching a game in progress 18 seconds.

Erm, yeah, look up mutelight and you can see my Vita trophies.

I am just realistic and not all googly-eyed over it like you are.

You're lying to yourself if you think the apps for it are anything short of slow and clunky.

I even made a load test video just for you to show you how the PS3 loads faster.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoB_CIaGh5g

The Vita usually takes about 30 seconds to load Uncharted. Maybe you just dont remember correctly? Believe me, I would love it if Uncharted loaded as fast as you said.

You are also misunderstanding my posts as I said phones and tablets do have games that are fun and games that cater to the touchscreen are great. I also said that overall I prefer my phone and tablet but the Vita is a great toy and the best console style gaming device for on the go.

No need to get upset, I have mentioned I like the Vita and am now on my third play through of Uncharted. The way I will say the battery takes forever to charge on my iPad or my phone's camera sucks, I call it how it is.

So sorry, do you even own a Vita?

I can show you stages on Uncharted 3 that take far longer to load, your just continuing a game..trying loading a game from the start of a level thats more comparable to what the Vita is doing since the PS3 has already cached the data to the HDD. The Vita doesnt do any of that because it doesnt need to, its accesses from the flash card are fast enough to not require it.

I also just loaded the last stage on my Vita and it only took like 20s, and im pretty sure loading a major stage from scratch on the PS3 is FAR far longer, its constantly loading during the cut scenes.

If you want to take caching into account, then just press the PS button and it will suspend the entire game to a memory page and you can go back to it..instantly with full use of the OS in the meanwhile. Loading between stages once youve started up for the first time is also faster on the Vita compared to starting from the menu.

If loading times are unbearable on Uncharted Vita...then i dont understand how you ever managed to complete a single game until we got SSDs. The hardware is clearly capable of fast loading times compared to any of the optical based consoles. Maybe you should try using a PSP...then come back and talk about slow loading times.

All I said is that the load times are nothing special. Uncharted is usually around 30 seconds to load on the Vita. Both the PS3 and Vita load during cutscenes. The Vita takes anywhere from 20-30 seconds to skip a cutscene when it is loading.

I also never said I had a problem with the loading, just pointing out that they aren't all that great. Also, as you can see, I own a Vita and actually own two PS3s. (among other consoles)

Here is a video of me starting both as new games from the very beginning. The Vita wins by a second but I also hit the screen a second earlier on the Vita. Virtually no difference and both games can be played instantly at that point if you skip the movie.
    http://youtu.be/qrh9p-YMkRc

Sure the Vita suspends the app but if you try to do anything else outside of navigate the menus, it will close the game. This is very similar behavior to the PS3.

I would feel silly calling someone out on not having a console like that especially when I not only disproved your assumption but debunked your magical load times.

    So basically:
The Vita is my favorite portable gaming device. I have put many hours of gaming on it and have greatly enjoyed it.
The load times are nothing special
The apps are slow and clunky
They have some quality control issues. My first screen had numerous defects and both my first and second one have hard locked. The first one got in a weird state where it didn't sleep properly and ran the battery into the ground.
